Project Overview

Xpik is a mobile application that facilitates communication regardless of language, just by pronouncing or writing a word, the associated image will be generated to better express what is meant.

The Challenge

We live in a world where more than 7000 different languages coexist, a world where more than 1.300 million tourists travel from one destiny to another yearly and 50% of them only speak their native language. This creates a great difficulty, a language barrier which causes distress and limited liberty.

• All translators uses the traditional literal translation of words
• The global tourism market corresponds 10% GDP and we will become part of it offering our service that of which there is a latent need of marketing
• In Xpik we create the appropriate method for communication where no translation is required. The only way understandable for people from any part of the world are images

During the Russia 2018 World Cup, we took advantage of traveling to that country with the challenge of communicating using Xpik as a means of communication. With success we were able to assess the use of the tool by generating different strips of images to reach the places. In the same way, we managed to announce our experience on television when we visited Russia, achieving around 40K downloads in one week. We also made ourselves known in our country, Venezuela, through IT programs broadcast by radio and television.

In 2019 Xpik participated in the largest startup fair in the world. The 4YFN is the world's greatest exposition dedicated to the mobile industry, where new tech companies from all over the world and also big companies like HTC, Telefonica and many more are participating. Over the course of three days, Xpik was present in the fair where we got mentoring to continue our project and publicize the tool.

The Approach & Solution

Xpik is the most efficient communication tool for travelers. With this App, everybody will understand you no matter language you speak. By pronuncing or in writing the word, it creates a string of images to makes yourself understood. The challenge is facilitates communication to tourists and allows them to overcome all language barriers when it comes to traveling to any country in the world. It eliminates travelers’ distress, those who cannot communicate efficiently or rapidly when they need or require any support, assistance or help. Xpik allows them to fully enjoy their trip.
